Stacked on #309, the top of the Core AI stack (#299 → #300 → #301 → #302 → #303 → #309). Part of #237 and #238.

Moves the Core AI docs to the website, now that every task has an implementation and a hosted model, and drops the "work in progress / throws unsupported / planned" wording they carried while the package was being built.

Website

New Core AI section in website/src/docs/core-ai (the site builds with it):

  • Getting Started: tasks and their APIs, installation, Expo and bare setup, linked tasks, loading models
  • Generating: text, structured output, reasoning, settings, native sessions
  • Images and Video: FLUX.2 image generation and Wan 2.1 video generation, with their options and export shapes
  • Transcription: files, and live PCM audio with streamTranscribe
  • Embeddings: CLIP text and image embeddings, and the model format
  • Vision: object detection, segmentation, video segmentation, super-resolution, classification and depth
  • Raw Function Calls: tensors, ownership and performance
  • Models: every Core AI export hosted on Hugging Face (folder, size, platforms, the API that runs it), the community exports, and how to make your own, with links to Apple's export guide, recipe catalog and Swift runtimes and the command behind each hosted export

The docs introduction and the root README list the provider.

Package and skill

  • packages/core-ai/README.md drops the work-in-progress banner, and keeps installation and a first call, with links to the website pages. packages/core-ai/docs/* moves to the website.
  • The agent skill moves to skills/react-native-ai/references/core-ai-provider.md, as its own comment asked for on release, and SKILL.md and quick-start.md route to it.

Outstanding work, filed before dropping the wording

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Explanation

The title "docs(core-ai): document core ai on the website, with hosted models" matches the main change. The PR moves Core AI documentation from the package docs to the website. The new website section covers setup, generation, images and video, transcription, embeddings, vision, raw function calls, and hosted and community models. The title is concise, specific, and follows the conventional commit style. It does not name the skill-doc and README changes, but it does not need to cover every detail.

Remove the Wan command from the iOS export list.

The Wan bundle is documented as macOS-only, and the iOS video path kills the app when the VAE decoder loads. However, this section presents --platform iOS as the command behind the hosted export. Users can follow it and produce an unusable iOS video workflow.

Remove the command from the iOS section. Document the hosted Wan export separately as macOS-only.

Align the AI SDK version for the Core AI install.

The compatibility table maps React Native AI 0.12 to AI SDK v6. The Core AI guide in the same change says the Core AI APIs are "aligned with AI SDK v7," and the example app pins ai to ^7.0.152. The Core AI install command has no version, so ai resolves to whatever version is current when a user installs. @react-native-ai/core-ai does not declare ai as a dependency or peer dependency, so the README is the only place that sets the version. Pin the install command to the v7 line that the Core AI guide and example use, and update the table so the 0.12 row matches the Core AI guidance.

Add the Expo prebuild step.

After adding the config plugin, run npx expo prebuild before installing or rebuilding native dependencies when the project already has native directories. Update the Expo setup instructions around the @react-native-ai/core-ai config
plugin to require running expo prebuild before installing or rebuilding native
dependencies when native directories already exist, so plugin changes are
applied in that case.

Review comments at @website/src/docs/core-ai/errors.md:
- Line 21: Update the error conversion in the streamText flow in ai-sdk.ts to
preserve event.code on the emitted error, so fullStream error parts expose the
documented code. If that cannot be supported, remove the claim that streamed
errors retain native error codes.

Review comments at @README.md:
- Around line 190-197: Update the README streaming example around streamText so
it consumes result.textStream with async iteration and outputs each yielded
delta, allowing generation to complete.
- Line 165: Update the README sentence about Core AI model exports so it does
not claim every task has a hosted export. Clarify that hosted exports are
available for supported tasks and raw `.aimodel` calls require the user's own
export.
- Line 177: Update the Core AI install command in the README to pin ai to the v7
line, and update the React Native AI 0.12 compatibility-table row to match the
Core AI guidance.

Review comments at @skills/react-native-ai/references/core-ai-provider.md:
- Around line 79-82: Update the exporter instructions around `uv run
coreai.llm.export` to link to the export guide or explain that the command
requires an `apple/coreai-models` checkout and its Python environment; clarify
that the npm setup does not install the exporter.
- Around line 47-50: Update the Expo setup instructions around the
@react-native-ai/core-ai config plugin to require running expo prebuild before
installing or rebuilding native dependencies when native directories already
exist, so plugin changes are applied in that case.

Outside-diff findings from the reviews of cfa044b and da27b4d:

  • Polyfills link in getting-started.mdx: now ../polyfills, without an extension, like the other website links.
  • Wan command in models.md: kept. The hosted export is the --platform iOS export (its ios/ folder), so that command produces it. It now says the export runs on macOS and doesn't fit in iPhone memory yet (Core AI: video generation on iPhone runs out of memory #306), matching the table.
  • README streaming example: now reads result.textStream.
  • README hosted-export claim: now names raw function calls as the one task without a hosted export.
  • Pinning ai@^7 in the README: not changed. The compatibility table maps 0.13 and above to v7, Core AI first ships in 0.13, and the other providers' install commands don't pin ai either.
  • Skill exporter setup: now says the exporter runs from an apple/coreai-models checkout set up with uv, with a link to its export guide.
  • Skill Expo setup: now says to run npx expo prebuild after adding the plugin or changing its options.

The site builds, and the relative link check finds no problems.
