Lucid's workspace now centers on a directly editable page. The capture bar offers Add notes and Change page; diagrams and tables remain available through Insert, rather than competing with editing as five peer modes.

The experimental visual direction uses mineral-gray surfaces, a white paper sheet, graphite text, familiar icons and a restrained vermilion accent. The accent was adjusted slightly to pass contrast checks. History remains closed by default; export, recovery and appearance tools remain in Page actions. Onboarding guidance points to the simplified controls.

Direct editing pauses during AI processing and pending decisions. This pass also separates block numbers from editor drag controls and fixes History's highlight in the editable document. Existing shortcuts, guided builders, undo and note compatibility remain available.

Validation:

• Build, typecheck, changed-file lint/format and diff checks passed.
• Unit suite: 1,556 passed, 22 skipped; final palette contrast checks passed.
• Focused Electron checks cover editing, dictation, confirmations, long questions, builder access, history recovery, themes, onboarding and window sizing. After fixing regressions and obsolete UI expectations, the remaining six recovery/onboarding/page-theme checks passed. This is not a claim of a fresh full E2E-suite run.
• Local isolated preview opened and direct typing/pasting checked.

Part of #77. Keep this PR as a draft on the experimental branch; no merge or release yet. Origami fold geometry/animation, further sidebar simplification and final website/screenshot alignment remain follow-up work. No unvalidated fold animation has been introduced.

Implemented and pushed the next visual pass in 2e3482d. The experiment now uses restrained neutral surfaces, sans-first typography, compact responsive onboarding, hidden-by-default History and page tools, and no blue active-page tint or heavy blue rail. Export dialogs/status remain available from native menus through a portal. Local validation: 1,556 unit tests passed and all 109 Electron E2E tests passed. The PR remains a draft and is not merged; GitHub CI is queued.

Added passage selection and preview-before-apply to the experimental workspace.

Select text → Change passage → request a change → compare Original/Result → Keep change or Discard. Scope is explicitly whole paragraphs/blocks for now. Keep preserves surrounding content, supports Undo, and rejects a stale source.

Validation: build, typecheck, focused lint, 27 queue tests and two desktop workflows passed. Wide/narrow review screens visually inspected. This remains a draft: word-precise selection, durable Source reopening, onboarding updates and migration of older UI tests are still pending.
