📝 Walkthrough

The OIDC controller now supports end-session requests and trusted post-logout redirects. Discovery responses publish the end-session endpoint. ID-token claims and validation use registered JWT claims, and authentication times use time.Time.

Changes: OIDC logout and token handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
ID-token claims and time handling
internal/service/oidc_service.go, internal/model/context.go, internal/controller/oidc_controller.go
ID-token generation uses registered JWT claims and no longer adds scope-filtered user claims. ID-token decoding validates RS256 signatures and requires expiration. Authentication times use UTC time.Time values in the user context and authorization code flow.
Post-logout configuration and discovery
internal/model/config.go, internal/controller/well_known_controller.go
OIDC clients can specify trusted post-logout redirect URIs. Discovery responses include the issuer’s end-session endpoint.
End-session request handling
internal/controller/oidc_controller.go
The controller adds GET and POST end-session routes. It validates optional ID-token hints and client identity, checks trusted redirect URIs, deletes sessions and records logout audit events for trusted redirects, and propagates state in redirects.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 6294f

Some relying parties may lose identity or group attributes, users with expired token hints may be unable to complete logout, and a link can log a user out without confirmation. Resolve these behaviors before merging.

- Around line 773-915: The endSession method currently deletes sessions without
an id_token_hint, enabling logout CSRF. Require the existing logout confirmation
flow for requests lacking a valid ID token hint, while preserving the already
validated PostLogoutRedirectURI and State through confirmation; pass them via a
mechanism that survives useScreenParams rather than the current frontend query
handling, and only perform deletion after confirmation.

Review comments at @internal/service/oidc_service.go:
- Around line 577-589: Update generateIDToken to accept the user information and
scope, call CompileUserinfo, and populate ClaimSet with the scope-filtered
identity fields instead of only registered claims. Preserve codeEntry.Userinfo
and codeEntry.Scope at initial token generation, and unmarshal
entry.UserinfoJson and pass the stored scope during refresh; keep end-session
behavior unchanged.
- Around line 943-946: Update the JWT parser used by DecodeIDToken to accept
expired ID token hints while still requiring an exp claim and validating the
RS256 signature. Disable automatic claims validation, then explicitly verify
claims.Issuer equals service.issuer after parsing; preserve rejection for
invalid signatures or issuer mismatches.

Require confirmation before deleting a session without an id_token_hint.

A third-party top-level link can call GET /api/oidc/end-session with the victim’s SameSite=Lax session cookie. With a configured client_id and exact trusted post_logout_redirect_uri, endSession deletes the session without id_token_hint or confirmation. This bypasses the existing /logout confirmation flow and creates logout CSRF.

Route requests without a valid id_token_hint through confirmation before deleting the session. Preserve the validated post_logout_redirect_uri and state after confirmation. Do not pass these values directly through the current frontend query handling, because useScreenParams drops them.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Restore the scope-filtered user claims in the ID token.

generateIDToken no longer receives the user info or the scope. The new ID token carries only iss, aud, sub, iat, exp, nonce, and auth_time. The ClaimSet profile, email, and groups fields are now always empty, and omitempty drops them from the payload.

Some relying parties read email, preferred_username, name, or groups from the ID token and never call the userinfo endpoint. After this change, those clients stop receiving identity attributes after login or refresh, so account mapping or group-based authorization can fail. Discovery still lists these values in claims_supported.

The end-session feature does not require this removal. Keep passing codeEntry.Userinfo and codeEntry.Scope through CompileUserinfo, and copy the result into the claim set. On refresh, unmarshal entry.UserinfoJson as before.

Update generateIDToken to accept the user information and scope, call
CompileUserinfo, and populate ClaimSet with the scope-filtered identity fields
instead of only registered claims. Preserve codeEntry.Userinfo and
codeEntry.Scope at initial token generation, and unmarshal entry.UserinfoJson
and pass the stored scope during refresh; keep end-session behavior unchanged.

Accept expired ID tokens as id_token_hint.

DecodeIDToken uses jwt.WithExpirationRequired() together with the default exp validation. The ID token lifetime equals SessionExpiry. Users often log out after their ID token has expired. In that case endSession returns HTTP 400 invalid_request. The session is not deleted, and the user does not reach the post-logout redirect.

OIDC RP-Initiated Logout 1.0 says the OP SHOULD accept an ID token as a hint even after its exp time has passed. Here the signature check is the actual trust anchor. Verify the RS256 signature and the issuer, and skip the time-claim validation for this use.

WithoutClaimsValidation also skips the issuer check. Compare claims.Issuer with service.issuer explicitly after parsing.

Review comment at @internal/service/oidc_service.go around lines 943 - 946:
Update the JWT parser used by DecodeIDToken to accept expired ID token hints
while still requiring an exp claim and validating the RS256 signature. Disable
automatic claims validation, then explicitly verify claims.Issuer equals
service.issuer after parsing; preserve rejection for invalid signatures or
issuer mismatches.
