Read task notifications' XML usage block and Monitor events - #368
Usage figures dropped: current Claude Code writes a <task-notification>'s <usage> as child tags, e.g. <usage><subagent_tokens>104863</subagent_tokens><tool_uses>30</tool_uses><duration_ms>351871</duration_ms></usage>. Older versions wrote key: value lines, and _parse_usage only read those. For the tag form it returned all-None, so the notification card silently lost its Tokens, Tool uses and Duration rows. In a real archive, 609 of 616 usage blocks are the tag form.
Monitor events dropped: a Monitor's event notifications carry the printed line in <event>, which wasn't parsed. Their cards showed only the task id.
Fix
Usage:_parse_usage reads both forms. subagent_tokens or total_tokens maps to total_tokens, and other counters such as a workflow's agent_count are ignored.
Events:TaskNotificationMessage.event is new, and the HTML and Markdown cards show it as an Event row: inline code for one line, a code block for several.
Unchanged: sync agent results' metadata tail still uses key: value (130 files have it, none have the tag form), so agent_metadata_factory is left as it is.
Docs:dev-docs/messages.md documents both usage forms and the event row.
Tests
New TestNotificationUsageAndEvents in test/test_async_agents.py:
both XML token names, extra counters, and the old line form still parsing
the event field
escaping and the one-line versus multi-line rendering in both renderers
just ci passes, with no snapshot changes because no existing fixture has either form.
Task notifications now display Monitor event text. Multiline events appear in code blocks in HTML and Markdown views.
Bug Fixes
Usage details are recognized in both current child-tag and legacy text formats. Token totals are handled consistently, while unknown counters and non-numeric values are ignored.
Tags inside event and result text are no longer mistaken for notification metadata; sibling fields continue to be parsed.
Documentation
Updated message documentation to describe Monitor events and supported usage formats.
Current Claude Code writes a notification's <usage> as child tags
(<subagent_tokens>, <tool_uses>, <duration_ms>) where older versions
wrote "key: value" lines. The parser only read the lines, so for almost
every recent background agent and command the card dropped its tokens,
tool uses and duration without a sign (609 of 616 usage blocks in a real
archive were the tag form). _parse_usage now reads both, mapping either
token name to total_tokens and ignoring workflow counters such as
agent_count.
A Monitor sends one notification per line its command prints, with the
line in <event>, no status and a summary that only names the monitor;
the event text was not parsed, so the card showed nothing of it.
TaskNotificationMessage gains an event field, and the HTML and Markdown
cards show it as an Event row (a code block when it spans lines).
Sync agent results' metadata tail still uses the key: value form, so
agent_metadata_factory is unchanged.

Task notifications now parse Monitor event text and current child-tag usage fields while retaining legacy usage parsing. The model stores event text, and HTML and Markdown formatters render single-line and multiline events.

Summary
Parse task notification fields and usage claude_code_log/models.py, claude_code_log/factories/task_notification_factory.py, test/test_async_agents.py, dev-docs/messages.md
The model adds an event field. The factory extracts event and result text before parsing notification fields, and parses usage from child tags or legacy key-value lines. Tests and documentation cover recognized counters, token field mapping, and Monitor event parsing.
HTML and Markdown render single-line event text as inline code and multiline event text as a code block. Tests cover event formatting and HTML escaping.

Exclude from result and usage matching.

Exclude <event> from result and usage matching.
_RESULT_RE and _USAGE_RE scan the complete notification body before event extraction. If a Monitor line contains literal <result> or <usage> text, the nested block can be selected instead of the real field. The replacement then removes that text from event.
Search for result and usage blocks on the notification body with the event block removed. Keep the original body for header-field extraction so the event text remains intact.

only still-valid issues, skip the rest with a brief reason, keep changes
minimal, and validate.

Update the notification parsing flow around `_RESULT_RE` and `_USAGE_RE` to
search a copy of the body with the `<event>` block removed, so event text cannot
be mistaken for result or usage fields. Keep the original body for header-field
extraction and preserve the event text intact.

Review feedback: <result> and <usage> were searched for on the whole
notification body, so a Monitor event quoting either tag (it is
whatever the monitored command printed) had the quoted block read as
the real one, and stripped from the event text.
<result> (an agent's Markdown) and <event> (a command's output) are
both free text that can quote any tag, so both are now taken out
first, each where it first opens, and only the rest is searched for
<usage> and the header fields. A result quoting <event> and an event
quoting <status> are covered too.

Re the review's follow-up on task_notification_factory.py (<result>/<usage> matched inside an <event>): fixed in 3f148df, a little more broadly than suggested. <result> (an agent's Markdown) and <event> (a command's output) are both free text that can quote any tag. So both are now taken out first, each where it first opens, and only the remainder is searched for <usage> and the header fields. New tests cover an event quoting <result>/<usage>, an event quoting <status>, a result quoting <event>, and a real result and usage alongside an event.

Review feedback on the free-text extraction:
- An event (or result) quoting its own tag ended at the quoted closing
tag, leaving the rest of its text to be read as fields. A notification
has at most one of each block, so a block now runs to the last closing
tag of its kind.
- An event is the monitored command's output; trimming it lost
indentation and trailing spaces. Events are kept verbatim (real ones
are written inline, never padded with newlines); results stay trimmed.
