Notifications counter always showing 10, even across restarts

[nullbio]

Issue Description

I'm not sure how this happened, this is a fresh Ubuntu 26.04 install - I installed ghostty and ever since then, it's said 10 notifications over the icon. Restarting the machine or the terminal doesn't fix it.

Setting gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-icons-notifications-counter false disables it - but obviously disables notifications altogether.

Expected Behavior

Show the correct notification count.

Actual Behavior

See above.

Reproduction Steps

Not sure how to reproduce, it was like this from the beginning to my knowledge.

I acknowledge that:

• I have reviewed the FAQ and confirm that my issue is NOT among them.
• I have searched the Ghostty repository (both open and closed Discussions and Issues) and confirm this is not a duplicate of an existing issue or discussion.
• I have checked the "Preview" tab on all text fields to ensure that everything looks right, and have wrapped all configuration and code in code blocks with a group of three backticks (```) on separate lines.

Do you checked your ubuntu system notification. Like below:

I clicked the Ghostty notification and it disappeared from my icon
